Creative Aging Ohio art program

The Sylvester Memorial Wellston Public Library and the Southeast Regional Library System is partnering with Ohio Arts Council (OAC) Teaching Artist roster member Jessica Held to offer a Creative Aging Ohio art program for older adults in Wellston, Ohio.
As a trained participant in Lifetime Arts through OAC’s “Building Bridges to Sustained Communities” initiative, Jessica will lead a six-week visual arts series for adults aged 55+ in Wellston, Ohio.
The program will include five art-making classes held at the Southeast Regional Library (251 W 13th Street), followed by a final session at the Sylvester Memorial Wellston Public Library (135 E Second St). Each two-hour session will provide free materials and guided instruction in suminagashi monoprint, wet-on-wet watercolor painting, and cyanotype photograms.
The program centers on connecting by learning, experimenting, and creating together. It will culminate in a participant art exhibition and opening reception during the final class, where participants will install their work and invite others to celebrate. The opening will include a snack potluck to encourage a welcoming, community-centered experience.
Please call the library at 740.384.6660 to register, seats are limited.
Participants must be willing to attend the full 6 week course.

The Creative Aging Ohio program is made possible in part by an investment of public funds from the Ohio Arts Council (OAC). The OAC is a state agency that funds and supports quality arts experiences to strengthen Ohio communities culturally, educationally, and economically.
